Anyone have a "go to" salsa recipe? I prefer to stay away from the sweet ones (eg. Garden fresh). Thanks!

You want a cooked version? Do you like it hot?

I'll take either way. Yea, I like spices, just not on ghost pepper status!

Im busy but look for the chilis cooycat recipe and then add a little extra cilantro and a couple of habeneros.

Seriously. Thats the only salsa that gets eaten in our family.

Just get a big jar of Two Sisters salsa and call it a day. Best salsa I've ever had.

Look up Pioneer Woman's restaurant salsa recipe and double the cilantro.

Mateo's is addictive.

For homemade salsa, I use a mimic of Chilis salsa that involves Rotel hot. Very simple and no cooking involved. A couple of versions online.

chop up tomatoes, onions, peppers (jalapeno + whatever), cilantro, garlic. Then, add lime juice

pulverize some or all of it depending on your desired chunkiness

The portions of each are up to you. I like a lot of onion so I add more. My mom puts more cilantro in her bowl, bc she likes more. It's all about your taste.

ETA: you'll need salt. I use sea salt

I'll look for it. I live up in Michigan now, and usually buy Juanita's spicy salsa...it's just a bit pricey at $5 per small container...and it goes quick!

I only do homemade salsa now. Next time you're grilling throw some whole tomatoes, jalapeños, poblano peppers and onions on there and let them grill until they are charred

Throw them in a blender and just add cilantro, salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste.

It's amazing and you will have enough for the week. So fresh and tasty

You don't have to use cilantro.

I second the Pioneer Woman suggestion. Her recipes are very good.
