Local Cajun Microwave builders?

Is there a place in the Lafayette area to get a Cajun microwave? Al Simon in Breaux Bridge makes really nice ones, but a little too pricey, and I'm not sure about the la caja china quality. I'd rather one locally made.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I can send you plans to make your own from a sheet of plywood. You just have to find someone to make the steel pan on top. It won't be purdy but it cooks a pig.

ETA: I'll even build it for you, but you would have to find someone to weld a steel pan for the top. I'm working on tweaking the design to work with disposable aluminum trays, but am not sure it would hold the heat in well enough.

I'll make you a deal. You build us a couple of them and I'll fabricate the stainless steel tops.

What’s the big deal on a coonass microwave?

Essentially it’s just an oven..... No smoke gets into the food. Why not get a big grill?

I like the smoke too, but if you don't have a giant pit or a trailer rig, it's tough to cook a 70 lb hog.

It's an easy and tasty way to cook a big slab of anything.

I built one several years ago from plans I bought off of eBay. I increased the size to accommodate a larger pig. I had a local sheet metal guy do the inside out of stainless with a drain. The top is just regular steel to hold the charcoal. I made the wooden part out of cypress. One improvement would be wheels. May add those in the future
