Liverwurst in Baton Rouge

Where can I find good quality liverwurst in town? I just went to Whole Foods and they didn't have it.
I'd like to start incorporating more organ meats into my diet and don't really enjoy eating whole liver.

I just ten minutes ago finished making chicken liver pate.
Maxwell's has it and they will make a sandwich of it as well.

Maybe Martin Wine Cellar: Baton Rouge?

I dunno about Martin. They have very little meat and cheese.
Rouses?
The deli at Shopper's Choice -- the old Piggly Wiggly stores?

What? Maybe BR location, but at every location in New Orleans that is not the case.

Are you looking for sliceable or spreadable?

Sorry, I meant BR. Going to the Martin off of Veteran's was eye-opening.

Either kind is fine? I've actually never eaten it. Which do you like best?

As of 3:15 pm today Highland Road and Perkins Road have liverwurst for $6.99 a pound and they will slice it for you.
Albertsons and most grocers have the tubes.

That might be the nastiest stuff I've ever eaten.

Pretty sure Oscar Meyer liverwurst wouldn't be healthy for you.
I'm only after liverwurst for the health benefits of organ meat. So...well treated animals, no chemicals etc.
Thanks, though. I'll give Maxwells a shot.

Well I wouldn't think of any being health food but I like it regardless.
If you want to make a chicken liver pate here is a quick and easy recipe I use. I have a friend who raises meat chickens and she gives me fresh livers from real free range local chickens. You can buy them from Iverstines market and his are very good roaming chickens.
Jacque Pepin Chicken liver pate
Just a different option.

Takes about ten minutes to make and it will keep in the icebox for a couple weeks. Put it on a charcuterie tray or just eat on a good baguette or saltine crackers.

I usually just make my own chopped liver. Tastes a lot better, and fairly easy to make. Heckuva good sandwich, with some rare roast beef, raw onion, and mustard on pumpernickel.

Tried that chicken Liver pate recipe. It's really good, I can't lie, but it has so much butter in it. I'm looking to eat liver for the health benefits so I'm going to be on the look out for a chicken Liver pate recipe that is a bit more of a nutritional powerhouse.

You can cut the butter in half-I just made a batch.
But if you are trying for some sort of health benefit you need to just eat calfs liver and onions. Otherwise you should look elsewhere.
