I think they were molting a couple weeks ago. That's why there were none around last weekend. There should be plenty this weekend. What area you in?

I don't even...is this a real post?

You know not every crawfish in the state molts at the same time, right? Water quality, feed, temperature, all affect it. A farmer can throw a pond into molt by simply pumping water. And they still feed.

We had a molt in our ponds corresponding with the big freeze a few weeks ago. As did several other fishermen I know. Because we all pumped during the freeze. So yeah it makes sense
