What kind of money are you looking at to open a rustic looking brew pub with smaller equipment. It would be great to center the business around great brew selection, awesome food and live music and to have the brewery equipment on display as a novelty. Maybe have the patrons vote on what they would like to see you brew next and name your brews after loyal guests. Just an idea but im thinking after the 75k in brew equipment you could decorate the place with vintage signs, bikes, lights and other used decor for +\- 25k. After that you'll need stock, kitchen equipment ( at least a fryer, oven, grill and skillet), and that should be close to it. Nothing fancy or new just a real dive with great food. The type of place you sign your name on the bar. So.... Who's with me?

Let me add that I have experience fully equipping a restaurant with used kitchen appliances for under 20k. This was a 50 seater that primarily served food. I believe a good brew pub could use a similar amount of equipment.

Need money for the ongoing operations too. I know a guy who sold one of his restaurants to a guy only to find out that the guy spent every last penny to buy the business and he didn't have money for supplies, etc.

You are leaving out massive fees for permits, licensing, rent or purchase of property, operations, staffing, etc...

I would say conservatively to do what you are trying to do, which isn't necessarily a bad idea you are looking at 500K to open the doors and operate for the first 3-6 months

And that would be veeeerryyy conservative.
If you have to build, you can throw that out of the window unless you go rural.

Hey B.O. what kind of permits, licensing, fees did you run in to for your operation. And if you don't mind me asking, are there still plans for another venture, or is that on the back-burner?

I assume you are talking about MVB. I have many hairbrained schemes, operations, and ventures.

But for MVB, we just got an occupational license with the city for a private chef business and paid state and city sales taxes. MVB is done, good burgers are readily available now outside of bars, which is all we were trying to do.
