Long shot here ... not able to find original post and/or reply through TD search engine.

Some poster wrote there is a place in Portland that has "legendary" Thai wings and while I am here, I'd like to give this place a try.

Suggestions? Or a recall of old post?

Yep. And if I would have known Will, I have a $300.00 gift card for Portland or Brooklyn and I'm not hitting up either anytime soon. I would have traded it for a bottle of wine at your new outdoor kitchen.

I would have more than likely taken you up on your offer. And still may. Depends upon my upcoming travel situation as I may be back here in Portland in about 3 months. Also, a good chance that we (family) may to to New York for Christmas.

Been a long couple of weeks. From Longview to Vegas to Portland and then home for 3 days and back out to Kansas City.

This might be it. Judging by Google search, this place is getting rave reviews.

While you're there, the burger at Little Bird is legit.

Probably me.

If you go to Pok Pok, try Salt and Straw across the street for ice cream afterwards. They always have some unique flavors (I had bone marrow with bourbon soaked cherries, last time I went).

Also, Imperial Bottleshop and Taproom is just a few doors down if you like good craft beer.

If you like cocktails, Whiskey Soda Lounge is also on that block, and is owned by the Pok Pok people.

You can easily park your car and walk to all of these places right there on SE Division.

Someone mentioned the burger at Little Bird. The sister location is a little closer - Le Pigeon, and I would reccomend that. They have an awesome burger, and it used to be VERY hard to get, because they only made 5 per night. Once they sold 5, there were done until the next day. I think it is the same burger as the one at Little Bird, with the bun from Ken's Artisan Bakery.

Le Pigeon Burger

Finally, just a 1/2 mile or so east on Division you will find The Beermongers and Apex Bar. No food, no booze, just beer. Several nice places to eat on that block, including Pine State Biscuits, if you get tired of all the healthy food available in Portland.

You might be able to find a brewery or two in that part of town, too. HUB, Cascade, Hair of the Dog, The Commons, Gigantic, Burnside, and Basecamp (plus one or 6 that I might have missed) are all within a mile or two.

Had both Pok Pok's and MoPho's wings in the last 2 weeks. They are very similar with MoPho's being "wetter". Didn't really have a preference. Order them spicy at Pok Pok. Even then, they aren't very.

Richter's cookbook looks good.

Agree on Salt and Straw. Went three out of the 5 days in Portland. Favorite flavor was Pear and Blue Cheese, but all were great.

In that same stretch of Division, is Ava Gene's, a higher-end modern Italian place. Wife thought it was the best salmon dish she has ever had - and she's eaten a lot of salmon.

And continuing my comparison of New Orleans and Portland, Lardo is no Butcher - although it looks as if that's what they were going for. Now if they had had not been out of Chris Consentino's guest chef sandwich of chicken livers and crispy chicken skin on toast, I might have a different opinion.

Lardo's started out as a food truck and then added on. I'm not sure they are trying to be like Butcher, but they do make a damn good sammich and their beer selection is pretty nice, too.

Lardo is a 5 minute drive from the above mentioned, places, too...

rsb - do you spend much time in Portland?

Give us a review of the places that you try.

Sorry the weather took a turn for the worse while you are here...

We've had absolutely beautiful weather since May.

No, it was first time, went for anniversary. Had a great time. We were there 9/27-10/2, weather was great. Stayed in town for 2 nights and then went down to the Allison in Newberg for 3 nights.

The Allison is first class. If anyone wants to do the Willamette Valley, I highly recommend it.

Yes. Yes it is. They don't have a large menu, but what they have is great.
