A LeBlanc’s Frais Marche is set to open in the Drusilla Village Shopping Center in the space currently occupied by Hi Nabor.

The LeBlanc’s Food Stores upscale brand — its first store in Baton Rouge — will move into the Hi Nabor spot in August and begin expanding the location’s footprint. The plan is to expand space by about 50 percent, going from the current 19,000 square feet to just under 30,000 square feet.

Alex Knight, of Donnie Jarreau Real Estate, which owns Drusilla Village, said the expansion and renovations will take three to four months.

“We are going to be doing everything in our power to try and get them open in time to sell turkeys for Thanksgiving,” Knight said.

I've thought this exact same thing before too...hate their stupid ads and wonder how they got away with something so close to another chain's name.

I am looking forward to a new store in Drusilla Shopping Center though, as the Hi-Nabor there is way past its expiration date. Hopefully they'll also figure out a better plan for that God-awful parking lot too.

Agree 100% It was time for Hi-Nabor to hit the dusty trail. Hopefully the new store will bring a little life back to a shopping center that is about 25+ years past it's prime. Oh, and I just hope they fix the parking lot too, which is really just one big pothole. Great place to go "off-roading" though.

I heard they are somewhere around 70 spaces short by todays occupancy codes so they will probably just leave it alone. Sucks since that entire lot is fubar.

"Plans are to rename the center Drusilla Village and spend about $2 million renovating the property, said Alex Knight of Donnie Jarreau Real Estate, who brokered the deal.

The work will involve putting a new facade on the building, updating signs, improving the parking lot, upgrading the lighting, adding new landscaping and installing awnings."

I think a big problem with the parking lot is not just the potholes, but the confusing layout of it.

You have lanes going this way and that way, a 2 or 3-way (?) stop in the middle of it, and that weird little building in the center of the parking lot (where Mary Lee Donuts and I think the Bingo Parlor are). Two lanes come from the Drusilla Seafood side merge together with the lane on the other side of that building, and nobody knows who has the right-of-way.

Not in LP, just deep Prairieville. Some would say Galvez.
