What is the FDB's oppinion of Lazy Magnolia brewery? I just picked up a 12-pack sampler this afternoon that had 3 each of their Jefferson Stout, Southern Pecan, Deep South Pale Ale, and Gulf Porter.

I think they make average to above average beer, with some really good options (Timber Beast, Jeff Stout)

Timber beast has finally made it into the LC market. I'll buy it with regularity because I really enjoy it. I don't buy the stout or pecan ale for the house but drink it on occasion at local restaurants. Lake Charles is a wasteland for good beer at restaurants. They are both decent beers. Never had the porter but would like too. They have started a solid base of beers. If they can start upping their seasonal beers and solidify a couple other really good base beers, Lazy Mag could be really good for a southern brewery, IMO.

I'm pretty sure Timber Beast is my favorite hoppy beer that I've tried.

If go stout, porter, pecan, pale ale in that group. Slightly above average for the area.

Slightly off topic but anyone know where I can pick up some of the Gulf Porter? Need 4 for a trade I'm working on.

I've really enjoyed Southern Pecan on draft.

The only place I have seen it in BTR is in that 12 pack.

Calandro's in BR has singles of it. Not sure who would have it your way.

And my opinion of Lazy Mag is that they're a step or three above Abita. They make some pretty mediocre beers, but Timber Beast was really a turning point for them. I do enjoy their Southern Gentleman, and Southern Pecan is a nice easy drinker that I have no problem with. Not really a fan of the stout, pale ale or porter though.

Completely agree. Timber Beast is probably my favorite IPA in this area.

That's because they don't bottle anything else that we want to waste space in a BXN box on.

Where have you found TB in Lake Charles? Anywhere on draft? That's exciting, I'm tired of driving out of town to get some.
