Making lasagna for the first time and some recipes I've found call for mixing egg into the ricotta.

Good move or no?

TIA.

Yes, good move, esp if you are using low fat/skim milk ricotta, which can be more watery than full fat ricotta. Egg will firm it up a bit, lead to less leakage when you cut it.

I've mixed garlic, parsley and Parmesan in before but never pesto...but that does sound delicious. Might have to try that next time I make lasagna.

No ricotta in my lasagne. Bechamel sauce and parmigiano reggiano cheese.

The one recipe I miss most from Mom is the one some Italian immigrants in Tampa gave her for lasagna the homeland way.

Back in 1968 Dad hired a guy from downtown to help finish the interior painting on the house we bought. That guy later was retired as head of construction in hotels in Tampa. He and his wife had no family in America and adopted us essentially. His wife gave my Mom a bunch of recipes.

Every time needed a raise he would invite his boss for dinner. Mom would make that lasagna from scratch (except for noodles). Dad always got more than asked for in raises.

The lasagna took all day to make basically. There were no low fat, skim, modified, GMO, HFCS in it. Sausage, ground chuck, roma tomatoes, fresh herbs, fresh cheeses....soo so good!
