Anybody here specifically have the Kamado Joe brand of cooker? What are your thoughts? Any regrets? Trying to decide if they are worth it. Also, how much can you cook on the 18" Classic? Thanks!

I bought the big joe (24 in") about a year ago and the only regret is not buying one earlier. It does take awhile to get accustomed to cooking on them. The first time I cooked burgers I ran inside to do something got distracted for a couple minutes. I hadn't learned to art of temperature control yet and came back to a pit filled with hockey pucks cooking away at nearly700 degrees. I can cook almost a 10lb bag of leg quarters at a time, but prefer cooking whole chickens now. With a rib stand you could easily get 4-6 racks. I chose the Kamado Joe because after spending years looking at the big 3 (BGE, Joe, Primo) they are all about the same but you get more accessories with the Initial Joe purchase. Pull the trigger you won't regret it!

I had the joe 18" for a year or so, then I won and XL BGE so I gave the Joe to my dad.

It's a great cooker, you can easily cook a big brisket. I did 4 or 5 racks of ribs once without the stands.

If you cook for a crowd often I'd probably go with the Big Joe, I mostly cooked for the wife and I so it was fine for me.

I have the 18'' Kamado Joe and highly recommend it. You can cook everything better on the Joe than a charcoal or gas grill. Maintaining temperature is easy and coals last a long time. You can use it to smoke/bbq meats for hours or sear steaks at 600deg. Plus everything in between.

I have used a BGE plenty and this an equal if not better. The Joe is cheaper and you get all the accessories included. They work the same. Paying for the BGE is all about the name brand.

I bought the Joe stand-alone version and built the table for it myself. Cost about $100 in material and a few hours to build. I can roll it in and out of my patio when I need to cook. The table is great for prepping and serving when eating outside.
