Just had a very good experience @ Tommy's Fish House, P-Ville

We originally wanted to try out Roux 61, but when we drove up and saw all the people waiting outside, hit the U-Turn and rolled out.
Ended up driving down highland rd and ended up at airline and went to prairieville.
Ended up trying Tommys Fish house for the first time.
Very impressed.
For the appetizer we had the pepper jack crab dip, which was very good. Very meaty and the chips were good and thick, but not puffy to where you are biting into air.
I had the 3lb boiled crawfish. It was spicy and flavorful, but not overbearing spicy where my eyes turned red and my nose started running.
The Mrs had the shrimp Po-boy. I tried one of her shrimp and they were big and seasoned very well.
All the food came out very promptly and the servers were very attentive.
The place scores a good check in my book.

Good to hear, I swore it off about 2 years ago after several bad experiences.

I'd rather drive 100 yards father and go to On the Half Shell

I'd rather drive 2 miles farther and go to Sammys

I have not been in years, but heard a good report last week, so perhaps they have fixed their problems

Good luck with their obligatory 45 minute wait

I love that place. I am 10 minutes away and go when I can. Their crab dip is something I can have by the bucket.

Their crawfish are usually very good. I've bought fresh seafood there and never had any problems with it. I don't eat fried stuff but I imagine it's just as good as their other offerings.

Ditto.
Also, saw he discountued his market. Disappointing. He's a big dog in the seafood distribution in Nola.
And I refuse to go to on the half shell. Can't tell you how many times that place has disappointed me.

I like Shucks more than the other 3 listed. The only Sammys I like is Highland, On The Half Shell blows and Tommys just hasn't ever whelmed me and I've given it numerous chances.

Same here in regards to eating in.. I lived right across the street at one time and went twice and on both occasions it took forever for the waitress to check on us /take our order.. So we would just order it to go and I'd walk over there and get it but never ate in again.

On the half shell is one of the worst restaurants in town.
The bar even sucked the last time I went, they need to clean their beer lines, draft beer tasted like it use to at ivars.

Why on God's green Earth would you want to do that? Sammy's is without question one of the most overrated (if not THE most overrated) places in the entire BR area.

Oh, it is. Sammy's and George's both reek of mediocrity.
