This afternoon I was drinking a 6 pack of Dixie, and after opening the last one, I noticed that the seal was bad (no pressure) and that the beer smelled off. After dumping it down the drain, I watched a small chunk of brown bottling glass come out of the bottle. As a home brewer, the bad seal made sense as it probably brought in a whole lot of foreign yeast and overcarbonated the beer, breaking the seal.

The question- who do I contact? I know after Katrina they were out of Monroe , Wisconsin at the Joseph Huber Brewing Co. After some digging, I found that the JHBC became the Minhas brewing Co, who no longer produces Dixie.

Did I happen to get the last of a dying beer?

I always enjoyed it over Bud Light, and was excited to see it in NYC. So yes I have had a few "good" ones. Its not the best beer in the world, but it always brought back memories of Nick's bar on Tulane Ave (also a victim of Katrina).

When I was in high school my friends and I would call AB and complain of this exact same issue... except we were lying in order to get coupons for a free 20 pack of Budweiser.

I always thought Dixie had a slight lingering taste of green pecans.

I'm sure if that is your thing they could be quite pleasant.

I do believe they used to age it slightly in cypress barrels.

Don't let the beer snob counts get you down. I don't know who to notify, and I honestly don't care about it. I do care that you refrain from letting beer nerd bastards grind you down.
