Really sad. I think he was our chef on one of the occasions when we ate in the kitchen. Cool guy.

Saw him on WWL one morning recently. He didn't look good.
This is sad news.

guess it's a stupid question, but how does one get a lung infection? i didn't know it could get that bad. sad

Not uncommon. Bronchitus and pnemonia are common types of lung infections.
Smoking and obesity can make the likelihood of infection greater.

Smoking. It blows my mind to see young people end up in the ICU with something like the flu. Most common thread is they usually are smokers. That being said I have no clue if this guy ever picked up a cigarette.

i guess that's what i meant to ask. didn't know if this was something brought on/amplified from smoking or some freak deal.

He is (was I guess) a good friend of mine. I'll miss him forever and think about him every time I pick up a kitchen knife.
I think the lung infection was secondary and came about in the hospital. He had other health issues that started the process.
Hug your loved ones. It can all end anytime.

I knew him. He was a very heavy smoker.

Indeed it sucks. I was in the same high school class with him and friends after some. So sad....
