I will be stopping in Jennings for lunch during the week and we need a decent place to eat. Any recommendations? No fast food please.

Cormier's has some good boudin. There's plenty of good boudin there, though.

Don't know if Evangeline's is still open, but if so, they're pretty good.

Or take a 8 minute drive to Mermentau and have a fried shrimp poboy from C'est Bon.

Jennings's good lunch options have really gone downhill over the past 5-8 years.

Cormier's boudin is ok, but doesn't compare to what you'd find 30 miles East.

That's probably the best you'll find without leaving Jennings

The only place within 15 miles of Jennings that I would tell anyone that it's worth stopping for.

Rocket Drive-In.

And I second yellowfin's Mike's recommendation.

I have found that on one of those Winter days where it's in the 40's and North wind blowing, that chicken and sausage gumbo at Peto's Exit 59 sure hits the spot.

I forget about Peto's, they aren't too bad actually. Gumbo is not bad and the boudin/sausage is pretty decent as well.

I haven't been in years. Was going off of good memories.

Except for that time my mom swears someone spit in her burger because she'd complained about limp bacon.

Rocket burger or the place next to the ball room on the main drag... The name slips my mind but I've been a handle full of times and the food was delicious.

Regatta isn't bad either, the atmosphere makes it worth the trip even when the food is subpar. I've had really good meals there and really bad ones

We take the boat for a ride 3 or 4 times a year to go eat there. It's nice just for the atmosphere, but you're right, it's either really good or really bad and I've had both.

I wrote off Regatta after two tries. I swear the kids chicken tenders was probably the best thing we had.

Best meal in Jennings is the shrimp poboy at the gas station

Try Babineaux's Café, 1402 Elton Road - 337-824-0014.

I had a real good bowl of gumbo in early spring and a decent plate lunch recently.
