Too cold too. Also we've had too much dry rain.

Just hasn't been enough snow up north

They ought to just come clean and say "we're gonna squeeze every frickin penny of profit out of your crawfish eatin' asses until we're ready to put up the nets and go on vacation." That, I can live with.

I don't know why the crawfish farmers and wholesalers even bother with trying to give excuses.

The public loves boiled crawfish, and many of us will pay just about whatever it costs to get our seasonal fill. I'd rather they just say, "Hey, demand is so high, we can keep our asking prices up there."

You bunch a dumb rednecks, I can tell that y'all's daddy's don't have rice farms! It's very simple, and I'll make it more simple for the simpletons from north la.
The hot/cold weather makes the hot/cold water too wet. Duhh.

Every year I wonder if it's just me, and I can't remember the correct weather conditions for a good crawfish season. Then I realize I should just write it off to bullshite.

i notice that its perfect timing as lent is here (the most prevelant crawfish eating time) that the prices MUST increase. But fret not, they will relax once we get to Easter, and lent is over., Just fricking say "We are jacking up the prices beccause we know everyone will be boiling the frick out of crawfish. We will drop the prices once the high season is ddone and its too fricking hot to be outside" fricking OPEC on the Bayou

It's supply and demand, you're just focusing on the demand side

large wholesalers set the price to farmers
they set the price as high as they can and still move everything they buy
these guys are buying 3-4000 sacks a day in the heart of the season, the last thing they want is to get stuck with dying crawfish
that's what happens when price is too high

Consumer greed is a major reason prices remain high. People expect crawfish for Super Bowl Sunday or earlier. How about waiting until late March or early April to start buying?
