Anyone have a suggestion or two on a good Italian cookbook? My mother-n-law's birthday is coming up and she's interested in Italian cooking all of sudden. Thanks

I've got maybe two dozen great Italian cookbooks, but oddly enough this is one of my favorite to read out of the kitchen.

There aren't an awful lot of recipes in there, but the ones that they have are pretty good. It's mostly photos and little anecdotes written from the viewpoint of different characters on the show (Uncle Junior talking about shopping for ingredients in the Jersey markets as a kid, etc).

It's a fun book, for some reason I'm a sucker for cookbooks that have great photos of the finished product (gives me some insight on how to prepare it). The Barnes & Noble discount shelf is a goldmine for Italian cookbooks.

Put me down as another big fan of the Sopranos cookbook. My wife got it because I love Italian cooking and the Sopranos.

Some pretty good recipes, and the pictures are great (as Afreaux said). I've made many things I never would have tried because the picture looked so good.

One of my favorites is the Rigatoni with Broccoli. It looks like mostly a side dish, but I've adjusted a bit over time to add in either chicken or shrimp and serve as the main dish. I think I'm going to make that this weekend now that I'm thinking about it.

the best Italian cookbook is by Dom Delouise.. it's called "Eat This.. It'll Make You Feel Better".. it's traditional, family style Italian.. I got it as a gift from an Italian family in New York and it's my most used book..
