Is Panera ever going to come to BR?

I tried to post on an old post that was started already, but it's locked. Does anyone have any idea when or where we will get one. I had heard they had the Corporate Blvd location and that got nixed. Then they said Jefferson Hwy. and that groundbreaking would start in June. Nothing.
I think that new Acadian Village shopping center on Perkins would be an awesome location. They are putting a Trader Joe's there and a Petco. They still have plenty of room for more. It's right off the interstate and they would get tons of traffic for LSU games.
Just wondering if anyone has any inside scoop.

I live out of state and I've lived in two towns that have Multiple Panera locations. I don't think it will be very successful in Baton Rouge.
Their bagels and baked items are good. Their other food is just average. People is Louisiana tend to be more demanding when it comes to food and I don't think most will be impressed after a couple of visits.
Baton Rouge already has some coffee houses. Where I've lived, Panera was the coffee house. Panera also served as a local bakery. Every town in S. Louisiana has at least one bakery already well established.
So, not sure how they'll compete in that market.....plus they serve Pepsi.
If they do open, get as many cinnamon crunch bagels as you can!

Can you provide a list of places in BR that people flock to because they demand better than what Panera would bring to the table?
I don't se it that way. I also don't see the market for their food capturing a sizable enough market to make it either though. The only hope for them IS Southdowns or Jefferson. I just don't know that the market is big enough to support it and keep them afloat, and the reason I saw that is because those that actually do bring it here end up struggling to capture the attention of the foodie market in place in Baton Rouge. It's a numbers game, and there aren't enough numbers just yet.

In general, Food is king in Louisiana. In the Midwest, it's an afterthought.

I hate Panera bread. It reminds me of airports.

Sounds familiar, and with New Orleans proper I agree, but once you leave that market the foodie market gets infinitesimally smaller and smaller, which means its tough for places that want to do artisan shite and different foods to make it, even a chain. The best chance they have is to focus it around women, and in places like Jefferson or Southdowns, and maybe Capital Hts.

The one in Shreveport sucks.

He couldn't go into Town Center because Zoe's has a non compete clause in their lease. He is trying to buy a piece next to Churchhills that is either owned by the Barksdales or Peggy Westerman. Either one it's a proud piece of dirt and I'm sure that's a sticking point now.

Had Darrell's in Sulphur ystdy >>>>> Darrell's LC
Lake Chuck doesn't have a bakery, so I'm thinking the Panera here will do well. The best baguette I've found is from SAMs Club

Pouparts used to bring bread here years ago

I made my first trip to Panera Bread in Houston for lunch. Definitely enjoyed the Fuji apple grilled chicken salad. Healthy & inexpensive. I would support as a lunch option no doubt in Nola or BR

Seems like if there's a market for good French bread, then certainly LC would be a likely market to explore.

Sign went up 2 days ago. Says Panera opening soon on the piece of land you speak of.
