I know that I will get ridiculed but, I really prefer imitation crab meat in my macaroni salad. not sure why but, I just like it better.

I know people with good taste who like that K-Rab meat.

I don't like it. But I'm more n2 boiled crab and not crab cake. So I like the process as much as the product.

Prolly a psychagoligacl thing

I don't prefer it over real crab meat but back in the college years I did like the Subway Seafood, although it is a tad too sweet.

So you were the other guy.

to be fair, it was the Seafood and Crab...or the meat that was already laid out like the footlong that they just slapped on the sandwich.

Good thing you didn't ask this question on the OT. I' shudder to think what items would qualify as imitation meat.

That imitation crab meat is nowhere the taste of real crab meat. I tried that crap once, and I didn't eat the salad that the imitation crab was on. That stuff has the texture of fish (which it really is) and it was kind of tough. I remember several years ago that Vernon Roger said to place the imitation crab meat in crab boil for some minutes and it would taste fine. I followed his instructions and that imitation stuff still tasted like crap.

are we talking imitation crab meat vs blue lump crab meat, or imitation crab meat vs real snow crab?

if you mean lump meat, i can see why you wouldnt like it in a macaroni salad.

I could care less (which means I do care, at least a little. WORD CRIMES!) about what you prefer, but I likes me somes fake crab meat. It's scrumptious.

Ditto, I think they both have their situations where they are useful and preferred.

Taste wise, the imitation stuff is pretty blah. My real objection to it is environmental: it is highly processed, made from fish caught 1,000+ miles away, using less than sustainable practices. Would rather save my pennies and buy real, locally caught blue crab.
