If both of those breweries sold a 50% interest in their business to BMC in order to get an influx of cash to expand production and increase their distribution, would you still support them? Or would you denounce them and start buying other beers?

Lets assume the quality of the beer stays high and the increased capacity allows them to brew more one offs and BA beers than they are currently producing...

Keep in mind, the current owners still own 50%...

ETA: This is an obvious reaction to the WW buyout, but I don't know that the WW sellout really hits home with a lot of people on this board, so I put this scenario out for debate.

Thanks for presenting this nightmare scenario, but yes, I would cease to support them.

At least at the level I do now. They would be the last option type thing.

The meltdown on this board would be fantastic.

So I can have DDH Envie, Ghost, Opus, and Bloom more than a couple of sips per year? At the same quality? And I can actually taste Grace & Grit without having to act like I'm looking for a missing child?

Yeah I'm sure I'd be ok with it...

Wouldn't surprise if both of them eventually sell. I might at well start supporting local breweries that don't make good enough beer to be bought out now so I don't feel betrayed later.

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad. I'm trying to point out that it's easier to reject Lagunitas or Elysian when they are 5 states away. When it's a local brewery, and the founder still owns 50% of the brewery and they are still making great beer right there in your backyard, then the decision is a little more difficult.

That seems like a good investment. Might grab some Smiling Ivan for the cellar as well.

If the beer stays the same I'd give zero fricks. Would probably prefer it because the pretzel necklaces would bail on it and making their beer more readily available.

I'm gonna start boycotting them just on general principle. I probably won't buy any after July-ish.

Probably a smart move, since Massachusetts is going to tax the air that you breathe.

Andrew and I would cash in our shares and bathe naked in $500 bills. It would be my fantasy.

Isnt this basically what happened with about 1000 wineries out in California? These cult wines developed, challenged the Gallos of the world, and then Gallo said, "fine we will buy you out (or invest), you make the wine, we sell it with our global reach, and everyone wins."

Simplistic analysis but the precedence is there. Expect same will happen in the beer world eventually.

$500 bills are hard to cash. You should probably throw in some $3 bills, too...

I went to Second Line recently for the first time. Cool outdoor space but their beer was horrendous; idk what BangBus is talking about.
