Wife and I running around doing errands today and had to stop at some friends to pick up some documents. Wife asked us if we wanted to eat lunch with them as she was making a smoked trout salad. Sure why not?

Salad was mixed greens, roasted pecans, sliced apples, smoked trout and a very light lemon and oil vinaigrette with just a bit of Dijon mustard. Light and refreshing and sitting on the back patio with this weather it was just right.

I couldn't get over the smoked trout. Man it was good with great flavor. I asked her a couple of times where it came from. They both fish so I thought maybe they did it from scratch.

Bumblebee in a can from Wal-Mart.

I made my first stop at Wal-Mart today in probably 6 months and bought 2 cans @ $3.75.

The more you know. I suggest trying it. But I eat sardines so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Tastes good. I buy King Oscar double layer sardines and eat on crackers on my tailgate but I've never bought the smoked trout. Just kind of thought it would not be good but I was very surprised and have a new salad now.

Canned smoked trout can be great. It actually not that surprising that it was good. Trader Joe's has some great smoked trout too.

I eat a can of mustard and hot sauce sardines once about every 3 months. I like the kippered snacks too, it's like a little fish steak.

I picked up some of that Bumblebee smoked trout today. Made a lil bowl of dip by adding some Helmans, lil sour cream, lil lemon juice, lil bit of green onion, black pepper and some lemon juice. Didn't have any fancy crackers, just used wheat saltines, it was larrapin' good..
Whenever I get my gubment check, maybe I can afford to buy 2 tins next time.

You could wrap that in some white bread and eat on the tractor with an RC Cola or add some capers and Melba toast and serve it at a wedding.

I went through my two cans like I was going to the electric chair.

That $3 dollar and something tin was great, bit it didn't cover near enough saltines!
I'd be scared if I was on the tractor running a disc or something, if I dropped a bite, I'd have to shut it down real quick, go back there and look for that bite of trout!!

I park under a pecan tree. I keep a couple of cans of sardines in the toolbox by my seat and they are getting swapped out for the trout.

Think I have an old Underwood Deviled Ham and an Armour Potted Meat in there too. I'll eat those this week to make room for my new Bumblebee lunch.
