I feel like a lot of times I see people who dont let their seasoning, onion, garlic etc...boil long enough to get the flavor right before they drop in their crawfish. How long do you typically let everything boil before crawfish?

I've done it both ways and I have never, ever been able to pick up a discernible difference between putting the crawfish in as soon as the pot is boiling or letting it boil for 15 minutes or so first. So I generally just put the crawfish in as soon as its at a rolling boil.

Its all about the soak.

I put the water in the pot, turn on the fire. Open my beer, take a few swings. Then, pour in the seasoning.

Once thw water starts to show some bubbles, I drop in all the potatoes, onion, garlic. When the boil gets really going hard, I drop in the crawfish and meats. When I cut the fire off, I drop in the corn.

Put in water, seasoning, garlic, onions, and potatoes. Start the fire

Once pot gets to a rolling boil, (which usuually takes about 15 minutes), i let it boil for 15 minutes before I put in the crawfish.

Never heard of people complaining about too mushy potatoes or garlic.

Boil until it is done. Check your shite or end up with garlic paste and creamed potatoes

I hear of alot of people doing their corn this way...and I get it...you don't want to "over cook" the corn. I've ate it at boils like this many times and its alright but it doesn't have near the seasoning I like in my corn. I throw everything...onions, garlic, mushrooms, celery, potatoes, sausage and corn...into the boil bag and drop it in the pot when it comes to a rolling boil.

10 minutes later, pull the bag, drop the crawfish and place the boiling bag on top. Boil crawfish for 5 minutes then soak to taste...usually 30 minutes or so. Corn is soft and loaded with flavor. Just my preference.

Put water in pot
Turn on fire
Dump half all of my seasoning, garlic, potatos, onions and mushrooms.
When it comes to a boil, set timer to 7 minutes.
At 7 minutes add my corn and sausage and add 5 minutes to the timer.
When the timer goes off take out all my vegetables.
Dump the rest of my seasoning.
Put the basket of crawfish, crabs or shrimp.
When the water comes back to a boil set the timer, 2 minutes for crawfish, 5 minutes for crabs, shrimp I watch.
Let them soak till I think they ready
Eat

Pretty much this, maybe a little longer for the potatoes depending on size , and I will throw all the veggies in fort he last minute of the soak just to warm them up

And everybody that is letting their seasoning boil, I at least hope you do that with a lid on, no telling how much seasoning you are losing in the steam

Wouldn't it be like a reduction and concentrate the seasoning/water?

Go put your face in some of the steam leaving a pot and see how much pepper is being released

I bring the pot of plain water to a rolling boil first then drop all the seasoning. When that comes back to a rolling boil, i drop my boil bag. But the ONLY time my lid isn't on is for the soak.
