A friend suggested it as a hang out place for tomorrow night and neither my wife nor I have ever been. It'll be a few of us ranging in age from early twenties to thirty. Food any good? Is it just a place to grab a couple of beers and oysters?

Nice beer selection, meh food, raw oysters, and a fuct up payment system.

It's a good place to watch a game

What's wrong with the payment system? Could be a deal breaker.

Probably awesome now that the smoking ban is in place. I always enjoyed it there. The Snooty Cooter upped their value in my eyes. Food is mediocre bar food.

I don't mind bulldog. I'm assuming it's more of a sports bar feel because people keep mentioning games. Lots of tvs in the place?

Lots of tvs. Order and pay for food and drinks at the counters/bars.

You have to open separate tabs for drinks, food, oysters. Can be a PITA. It's good for sports but outside of that the atmosphere is meh IMO.

Bottom I'm almost 100% postive they went smoke free before the smoking ban. If FT wasnt in banland he could confirm.

My favorite sport type beer bar in NOLA. I LOVE the fact that they don't have a wait staff that come around.

Yeah, I'm not a waitstaff fan either.

LL weren't you (aren't you?) a part of a waitstaff for years and years or am i making this up? Do you just like to be left alone until you need something at a bar? I'm certainly that way.

And everyone expects a tip too.
I hate places where the cooks want a tip. Oyster shucker I get it that shite is hard work.

I agree with most great ambience for sporting events. Snooty corner has an above average selection. Better than uptown bulldog.

Cool bar, especially if you're looking to catch more then one game. Eat elsewhere. The food is some of the worst bar food in town. Yeah, I said "BAR FOOD".

I really enjoy cooter Browns. The new bar has a solid selection, they have a million tvs, oysters, and I like the food

Yeah, I think calling it the worst bar food in the city is a stretch. It's definitely passable. It is winning awards? Heck no. But if I've had a little too much and want something fried, it really works.

I find it a few notches below the Bulldog in the food department.

I'm struggling coming up with a NOLAA place with worse bar food then Cooters.
