adding a good bit of salt to the water will also make them easier to peel, especially if they're fresh, like yard eggs, or if you want a soft boil.

When not using my sous vide, I instantpaot them for 12 minutes and natural release. Perfect peel every time.

I start by putting them in cold water and bring it to a boil. Walk away, forget about them, come back 30 minutes later and realize I forgot. Pour off boiling water and submerge in cold water bath before putting in the fridge. I've never had any issues. I never knew that you could mess up a hard boiled egg.

come on you guys. for $5 that egg deal for the microwave is FLAWLESS as in you will never ever forget about boiling eggs or mess up an egg again.

the only downside is it does 5 at a time so it will take about 15 minutes (5 minutes each time) to cook 15 eggs.

I haven't real through the responses so mine might be a duplicate way. I put them in the pot and fill about an inch or two over the eggs with water and add 1/2 tsp salt. Bring to a rapid boil and then turn off the heat. Let them sit for about 13 minutes. Drain and run cold water over them to cool them. I never have a problem peeling them, even days later.

Place cold from fridge into hot steamer basket and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from pot and into ice bath. Peel and eat.

THIS! I do 12 minutes though. Ever since I learned of the steam method I have never looked back. Perfect eggs every time.

For soft boiled you steam for 4 minutes I believe
