Looking for a place for a nice Sunday lunch/brunch to take my BIL and his new fiancee to celebrate their engagement, but we will also have a 3 year old with us, so take that into account.

They live in the Heights, but I guess it doesn't matter

Some of our favorites:
Urban Eats
Liberty Kitchen
Cook & Collins
Baby Barnaby's

We've been wanting to try Backstreet Cafe but just haven't gotten around to it.

If they live in the Heights I'm sure they've been to Liberty Kitchen by now, but it's a safe bet with a kid.

Baby Barnaby's might work in Montrose, or something Mexican...El Tiempo/La Mexicana.

I woulnd't say any of the above are "nice" or "celebratory".

Hugo's/Caracol/Backstreet Cafe are generally places I'd send people for a brunch place.

If it were me with a kid in tow...I'd find a patio-something like Urban Eats, Torchy's Tacos, Local Foods on Kirby, or even Mia's.

Does Mia's do brunch? I've been there a ton for lunch since I work near but never looked to see if they did it.

and that is probably one of the most family friendly places I have been outside of a chuck e Cheese.

BRC Gastropub has a great brunch. Have booths which is good if you have a kid.

Since in the Heights and kid in tow, meaning the fancy places are out... Cottonwood.

Squirrel Master burger is delicious. Outdoor seating which is good if weather is nice (looks like it might rain Sunday). Great draft beer selection.

It's also dog-friendly, and there's a park behind it with a playground.

Don't think this is necessarily true. We take our ~1 year old to a lot nicer places than Cottonwood all the time. Never had a problem.

Forgot about BRC, the biscuits with bacon jam are amazing.
