We've come a long way from Lupe Tortilla(which still gets recommended on this board for some reason).

I'm still freaking out over Providence being ranked second overall.

They scope of survey/poll didn't come across as best creole food in the country to me, maybe we interpreted differently....

Seems to me like nobody opens creole joints in New Orleans anymore.

I realize the makeup of this board, but why should NOLA be in the top 3?

Is it known for BBQ, Pizza, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Delis, German, Korean, Japanese, Sushi, Jamaican, African, Indian....?

I am willing to be corrected, honestly, but I don't picture New Orleans being tremendously diverse despite being a great culinary destination.

Way to edit my quote, troll. New Orleans, San Francisco and New York are the tops. You could also throw Chicago in there. Houston belongs in the bottom half of the top 10. Stop being butt hurt about New Orleans being better than Houston.

Outside of bbq there is nothing special about Memphis dining. The fine dining scene is below average for a major city, the 'ethnic' scene is invisible, and there is no diversity since that's a big issue apparently. Very little creativity as well.

I was only including the part I was commenting on.

New Orleanians are having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that Houston has BECOME a better food town. Hell I wouldnt have agreed with that 15, even 10 years ago. It's not really disputable aside from creole food in NO's favor.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Houston is also a better food city than New York, too. Keep telling yourself that

Where did I say that?

If I were to do a ranking it would be tiered because each major city has different specialties, i.e., I'm not going to sit here and try to put Houston Italian restaurants against NYC or Chicago. At the same time, I don't know that it's fair to compare authentic Mexican in Chicago/NYC to Houston.

I don't totally disagree with Houston having a better food scene although it's arguable, especially given the size of the two. However in the last 10 years New Orleans has really stepped up in other categories besides creole. Just look at the James Beards.

Then they start talking about all the great "cajun" food they've eaten in New Orleans.
