It must be the rent.

But yeah, take a few months off and lease the empty space at Magazine and Jackson. (I can dream)

Lease is over and he has been cooking for almost 50 years. When it is time, it is time. Great place.

While I haven't been a regular for some time, I enjoyed many great meals there. It is one of the few area sushi places regularly offering Gulf fish species.

I'm really going to miss this place. The term "authentic" gets tossed around quite a bit, but as far as a true Japanese experience, I don't know of another restaurant in Louisiana on the level of Horinoya. Damn.

One of the best in NOLA. I may try to eat there one last time if my schedule allows.

The only place that comes close in quality is Kanno, but that requires getting in the car. I could walk to Horinoya, and they knew me even if I went several months without setting foot in the place. Sad day.
