Saturday I kegged a beer using a Sterile Siphon Starter for the first time. That thing is great. The old auto siphon is getting put away for use with sours.

yeah, they're great and I certainly miss using ours when we ferment in a bucket.

There's a better shot at me brewing a lager than there is me brewing a sour. Yet, that chance is still virtually nil.

You should brew a DIPL. Ale fermentation characters only get in the way of hop aroma.

I fell back into this trap this morning, when I went to add the other lb of cane sugar to the beer. Instead of making a syrup I just dumped dry sugar in. I am of the opinion that it is all the same but I am sure I was suppose to make a syrup, boil for 10 mins, let it cool and pour it in. But I was not putting in that much effort.

Outside of using a heat wrap thing, how would I raise the temp of a 10 gallon fermentation cube up into the 80's without just putting it outside? Ideas? It is currently in the mid 70's now. This morning I put it in front of a window that gets afternoon sun (cube is non-see thru plastic)

Put it in a garage. I know you don't have one, but fermwraps are ideal for this. It's the reason i brew saison's when its cold outside.

I'm also formulating an Oktoberfest for my next brew. After that is my coffee oatmeal stout, then possibly my first sour, depending on if i'm out of IPA's or not. If so, then i'll sneak an IPA in there then do a sour.

It is frustrating for me at the moment, because I have the equipment to keep it warm, just not the electricity to hook it all up. No place to plug in my chest freezer which I have a heat lamp for.

FDB Table Beer Battle!

LST and I are both brewing a table beer based on Le Petit Prince from JK. Then we are going to trade and see how different brewing techniques and yeast change the final product. Anyone else want in?

Oh. Yeah. I think you're correct. My bad. I got it confused with some of their other beers they discussed. Carry on

I'm in. I'll brew one next time I brew. Got a nice colony of dregs that's tasting pretty solid.

Brewing a dark cherry Gose this weekend. Hopefully similar to Victoty's Kirsch Gose.

Sure why not. I'm in. When are y'all looking to have the beers finished?

What do y'all think? Maybe 3 months from now or we could aim for the FBD Jamboree or some other event?

Here are some recipe specifics for Le Petit Prince:

O.G. 1.021-1.024
F.G. .997-1.002

Grain:
85% Pilsner
15% Malted wheat

Hops:
14 IBUS

I think if everyone stays somewhat true to the above and then go with whatever for yeast, fruit additions, dry hop, etc. Then we should get a wide range of fun variations from the same base.

P.S. Bottomland - your box is finally getting packed

I could pull that time frame off. I'm hoping to brew Friday or Saturday.

I'm all about that pils.
