Herbsaint - stop the hatin' on Link

Went to Herbsaint on Fri night. Only a 5 top, so didn't expect the experience that some have had with larger groups, and it was simply an extraordinary experience. Reservations were for 6:30, and we were seated right on time. Started with cocktails (didn't get experimental - had a Pimm's Cup which was great), and our waitress was very attentive and took more than ample time to answer questions, make suggestions, etc. Three in our group were not from La., so they needed some guidance, which our waitress gave in abundance. For apps, two of us had the duck and andouille gumbo (damn, that roux was like velvet) and the rest had salads. Everyone was extremely happy with the apps. Entrees included the duck confit, lamb neck, pork belly and shrimp with calasparra rice (they converted the small plate to a reg entree for us). We shared bites of all, and no one had anything less than a stellar dish. Duck was not salty at all. Waitress recommended an Italian super tuscan which complemented everyone's meal. Frankly, I really don't recall the desserts, but we shared three and they were also nice. More food than what we could really eat, cocktails, and 3 bottles of wine. Bill, incl tip was approx $450, and it was money well spent given the extraordinary time we all experienced (we didn't leave the restaurant till after 9pm). Didn't want to add this to the other thread re Peche, because I didn't want that damn title to mar what we had experienced. And, no, I don't work for, or know Link or anyone else that works for any of his restaurants.

Their gumbo is fantastic.so dark and delicious. I'm a fan of the place and had good service with a 10 top for an office lunch.
Edit: And I think the other thread said Herbsaint was great service as well.

No one has been hating on Link that I know of. Maybe it was runningtiger. He hates on Besh, though, I believe, and maybe Butcher.

I agree that it's outstanding for what it is. I love the place.

criticizing Besh's restaurants not named August and Provence is not "hating" on Besh. some people....really wonder if a few of these people are employees at luke or some other subpar besh restaurant.

Well, to be honest, the last time I went to Herbsaint(last year around this time), my wife and I said it would be our last. We've never had really bad service, but the service always seems off. We have also had a couple of really good meals at Herbsaint, and a couple of "it was decent" type meals, so last time we just decided there are too many other choices to keep getting "so-so" type experiences.
We have also had downright bad service at Cochon(like email sending type bad, but my wife never got around to it), but we've also had very good service there.
We have been to Peche 5 times at various times and have been extremely pleased from service/food every time.
Butcher is in a different category, obviously, but Butcher is almost a staple in every trip to NOLA.
I don't hate on Link and I think he's knocked it out of the park with Peche/Butcher, but service was not something his restaurant group seemed to excel in from my experiences.
