I bought at char broil tru infrared last year and it is absolute garbage. I am looking at webers now and would like some advice. I don't cook anything fancy will be used mainly for burgers steaks etc. Which weber would yu recommend?

I'm looking at these two far and the price difference is pretty big. What benefits would I be getting with the expensive one?

I would get the cheaper one. It's a very good grill for the price, and I don't think you'll see a big difference in the performance.

Stainless steel is not worth the extra money. It is a bitch to keep clean, and the powder coat looks just as good, IMO.

ETA: That Weber will last you a dozen years, and it will be super easy to use. Cooks great.

I would consider this:

Did you want gas? Just wondering if you ruled out a Big Green Egg or something along that type of grill.

Buy yourself a Phoenix and thank me later. Last grill you'll buy.

I second the E330 with the sear station and side burner. I have had a natural gas one since 2011 and it's been perfect.

It's not just you and me. This grill has 700 reviews and 600 are 5-star reviews.

96% of the reviews are 4-star or 5-star. That's pretty rare that a product is that well reviewed...

I just bought my dad a Genesis II LX-E440 last week, after doing the research.

First thing to note is, how many burners do you want (your links have one with 3, and one with 4)

Next is, do you want a cabinet below, or not. Cabinets come with side burners.

I agree, the extra $600 for the cabinet and side burner seems like a lot. There are little extras that come along with those (the shroud is higher, the control knobs are lit, cooking grates and flavor bars are stainless rather than enamel).

If you are looking to save money and still buy a Webber, they have a whole economy gas line called the Spirit Series (www.weber.com/US/en/grills/spirit-series) you should also look into.

When you get one, go to Weber's site and register your new grill via serial no. while you can still find and read it.

If you ever need to make a warranty claim or order a part, it will make it simple.

I have a Spirit which I keep next to my BGE for when I don't feel like going through the process of making a fire for the BGE. I even use the Spirit to light my chimney starter coals for the BGE. It's been great I find I grill a lot more often having the option of gas.

I'm in the market myself (the last windy storm we had around here put out some gusts up to 75mph a little over a month ago here which took down my patio cover and destroyed pretty much everything under it....I'm replacing via insurance now) and looking to upgrade.

I've pretty much decided on the 3 burner Genesis II LX. The reasons are as follows:

1) it has a little more power....the LX 3 burner gets you about 84BTU/sq in of cooking area as opposed to less than 80 with the normal Genesis II I think.
2) it is mostly assembled in the USA..with parts outsourced to China I'd guess.
3) I like the idea of the side burner and the cart with doors......I don't want my cat (or other animals) getting into the grease trap.
4) I'm interested in the iGrill 3 integration (available in all Genesis II's)....it isn't exactly wonderful now but I think it may get better. I've never had any type of "connected" thermometer system so my expectations are probably fairly reasonable.
5) The LX comes with more stainless steel parts....like the grates I think. It also has some other nifty features like LED light up knobs and an LED tank gauge on propane models (although this does get replaced with the iGrill 3 unit if you choose to get it).

ETA Whoa bad bump....what did you go with

Spend about $200 more than the $899 grill and get a large BGE. The BGE is going to be more versatile, giving a better option for smoking, and the BGE has less moving parts to break or go bad. The BGE will also not rust.

I'm not much into smoking unless I use an electric that can clearly control the temp for me.....if I'm going to be cooking a single item for 15+ hours I better be able to get drunk, take a nap, cut grass, work out, or something like that while it is going.

I've always used gas.....it's just easier to me....probably not as rewarding but at this point I'm looking for easy and painless along with some longevity.

I'm sure that's not what the BGE crowd wants to hear...but it is what it is.
