Mixed reviews for this place.

Mostly good..
I loved the atmosphere.
Cozy place, romantic, cool pictures on walls.. They don't have a foyer so on a cold night like last night front 4/5/6 tables gets a little chilly every time door opens.
Only thing I thought was odd they had zero Christmas decor..no lights, no tree, no nothing.
Waitress was polite and knowledgable.
Good beer , wine selection.
4-5 Abitas, couple tin roof, couple new Belgium, couple other I can't remember name.
Apps all looks good, we settled on duck wraps ith spicy bourbon glaze.
Stuffed quail looked amazing... I settled on filet trio wife had redfish with gulf shrimp with kale and sweet potatoe.

I asked for filet medium rare, came out well.
I didn't pay enough attention to the menus, it wasn't an 8oz cut it was 3 (trio duh) small pieces over scoop of mashed potatoes.
One had bernaise, other blue cheese sauce, other was some sort of terriaki... I wasn't fan of it.
Even when manager came back with it cooked to MR, it was still not as tender as it should have been, maybe it was the smaller sizes..IDK.
The wife's redfish was great, shrimp set it off well.

Overall ill give it a B, it's little pricey.. My tab was 160 tip included, we stayed 2 hours so it was to be expected.
That was an app, 4 beers, 3 glasses wine and 2 entrees.
Def the Juban's or ruffinos of Monroe.

I really like Cotton, I've had the filet trio and it was great, this was about a year or so ago though. The cocktails were on point, too.

I've eaten there several times with the in laws in funroe, it's good but no where near as good as Ruffinos IMHO, they try and pass off basil Hayden's as pappy and my steak came out well when ordered medium rare as well

Threeput holds that belief, I think, but I could be mistaken. I think that when Cory is in the kitchen , only the best of Greater New Orleans are better...and some of those probably aren't, as far as food prep goes.

I'm sure it's good but any joint with a filet trio on the menu isn't going to be considered as a best of anything. IMO

That dish isn't bad...my steak eater gets it each time. It serves a purpose on the menu, but if one goes to Cotton, the fish and game dishes are by far the best offerings. And, if Cory has a fish special, get it.

I just think there are better cuts to serve at a fine dining spot. Especially a "new school" fine dining restaurant. Filet is so boring

It isn't a steak house, but a restaurant needs a steak option, or two, around here. I've never ordered the dish, and never will. Venison Schnitzel , a quail dish, heirloom pork or a fish dish will always be my choice there.

if you're evaluating this place on steak, you're doing it wrong.

best shrimp n grits I've had anywhere. Great appetizers as well.

With options like those you would think they would go with a flat iron or hanger... Something better than filet.

Can't say those haven't been on the menu as a special, but a filet has to be a best seller as far as steak goes...and sales are what it's all about. And again, this isn't a steak joint...steak on the menu is an accommodation .

I understand. Believe me, I understand. The market gets what it wants. Just my .02 that having a filet on a menu brings it down a few notches. IMO.

No real argument here. The chef isn't a steak guy...seafood...you really can't beat him. Not sure if a chef in La can beat him on a fish dish.

They had a roasted pecan drum that seemed legit too.

It likely would have been fine. It's just not a steak joint IMHO . Go for the other choices.

The place needs a serious menu shakeup. The drinks are good but the PVW is a sham there like a poster already stayed.

Also, as stated by a previous poster, if the main chef is not in the kitchen then the food quality really drops.

That said, it is my go to place for a business lunch when the client is burned out on the country club or lotus club. I enjoy evenings meals there.

Some fine women visit the place....but to compare it to new orleans' establishments is comical...but that is how we roll in the delta.

maybe you should roll for yourself, or possibly, just slow your roll?
