I like to add green Tabasco sauce to it for a little extra bite.

It's a question, smartass. I was wanting to know what it brings to the party.
It brings taste, imagine that? maybe next time you might can ask the question in a different way, something like: "what does adding mayo or sour cream do for the flavor or texture"? Not whatever the heck you said, something like "why are you people adding fat to fat"? dumas

Avocados
White Onion
Lime Juice
Cilantro
A little salt

That's all I put. Some people like to use garlic powder or garlic salt. I'm not a fan of using tomatoes but some people like it.

Meh

Sure adding mayo can add taste and texture

But to me it doesn't improve it. It adds taste and textures that don't belong there IMO. Avocado should be the base of the dish. You start mashing it all together with other oils and mayo and it starts to take a back seat.

I said I like a tad of mayo, not quite the same as mashing a bunch of stuff together.. Honestly, I love quac. fixed just about every way, even with a little lemon juiced squeezed and garlic powder sprinkled on avacocado slices. But, undoubtedly we have slightly different tastes.. "IMO", "to me it" seems that your's is "meh" and wrong..

Our recipe is similar to most others here:

4 avacados
1/4 cup finely minced onion
juice of 1 lime
1 small tomato peeled and chopped 1/4 inch pieces
2-3 teaspoons lawry's garlic salt (this is key to finished taste - salt and garlic)

Simple and good
