Someone please explain to me what these things do that a Weber Kettle does not. I seriously can't figure out why these are seemingly so popular when they cost 5 times as much as a Weber.

I've never cooked on a Weber kettle, but I cant imagine something made of thin metal can hold a steady temp like the kamodo style cookers

Its just super easy to do a wide variety of things. Ive had mine for 2 weeks now. Lit it like 9 times. I've used a half bag of charcoal. Did 3 smokes.. ribs, turkey, and brisket. All 3 were extremely easy to keep at temp. Brisket was 8 hours and I still have 2/3s of my charcoal left in the pit. Could have easily kept it at 225 for 8 more hours with tiny effort. I've also grilled hot dogs for my son then opened vents and cooked a filet at 600+ 10 minutes later. Im sure you can do any of those cooks with a weber, but its just a lot easier and takes a lot less fuel to get it done on a ceramic
Also, in terms of what's the best brand, you aren't going to get too many unbiased answers. I've heard good and bad about the primo oval shape. I've heard kamado Joe is a better price, but I found the BGE for almost the same price. The BGE definitely nickel and dime you. I went with BGE because the hardware store I got it from is big into them and had great service (assembled and delivered, let me borrow nest, came help install in the table I built, handles my warranty claims, etc). I'm sure all of them cook the same.

I've had 2 whole briskets on my BGE at 225, gone to bed, and gotten up at 7 the next morning. The temp was exactly where it was when I left it. I continued to cook at exactly 225, until noon when I took them off.
This cannot be accomplished on a Weber Kettle. Also, I guarantee I can get my BGE hotter than the kettle for direct sear of steaks/kabobs, etc. It can also function as a wood burning pizza oven. I could go on, but the versatility is unmatched.

Real F&D ballers get the all stainless/aluminum blaze Kamodo.
I have the L BGE. Its an amazing grill if you aren't trying to cook a mass amount of food at once.
I tried cooking 2 small drunk chickens on it the other day and had to figure out the perfect placement to get the grill to shut.
Other than that. i love it

That the 18" or the 24"?
I went to field and stream today but they only had 18". Think I need the 24"

I've got a butterflied chicken on my right now. Temperature locked in at 350. Great grill.
I've got the 18" egg. Thought I'd need the 24", then eventually settled. Family of 4-6 can easily be fed well off of it. If I were doing things for groups of 8-10 more often, I'd regret it. But for me, it's fine.
And this isn't even adding on the stackable grate options.
