I am looking for suggestions to make a good Greek or Mediterranean dish for a pot luck supper.

I am not a chef, and as a cook, only decent, so I'm not going to do anything complicated.

Make hummus or roll some grape leaves.

while not overly complicated, it's certainly time consuming

I'm partial to Kafta Kabobs

I've made a Greek stew of potatoes and kalamata olives before. Finished with feta cheese. Very rich and tasty.

I don't know what recipe I followed, but I saw a few when I Googled.

That looks great. Unfortunately don't have a grill.

Otis (2, not the original) and Darla, thanks, I will look into that.

fyi, can make in the oven. I put on skewers, then on a broiling or cooling rack, then stick in oven under broil. Then turn every few minutes.

Buy a platter of chicken shawarma, a quart of hummus, and some pita. Most Mediterranean restaurants have catering menus that are surprisingly reasonable.

If you can't cook, make a greek salad.

Someone claimed that right off the bat! Salad is always picked first unless paper plates or drinks are part of the list.

Baklava

Not hard. Probably won't have anyone else doing a Greek dessert.

Do you have any spice shops in your area? Red Stick Spice here in BR has a few different Mediterranean blends that you can buy 3oz of for a couple dollars so you don't have to go out and buy each spice individually. If there is something like that near you, you might find it a big help. The internet makes it look like some stores like Whole Foods might carry bottles of Mediterranean spice mixes as well.

I'll often do chicken/beef/lamb skewers and also roast a pan of veggies with this spice blend and EVOO. Literally all you're doing is tossing meat and veggies with a pre-bought blend and some oil and throwing in the oven. Do a quick greek yogurt/fresh dill/minced cucumber dip for dipping the meat and veggies into.

This is the way to go. Delicious and super easy for a potluck.

GOAT dessert. And easy to make.

Maybe one of the most underrated desserts on da earf.

Take the easy way out & make a greek-ish bread appetizer. Get a bunch of pita (whole wheat or not), spread liberally with olive oil, sprinkle with plenty of greek seasoning & crumbled feta. Toast, then cut into triangles. Pile up on a platter w/a dip made from greek yogurt, lemon juice, and a bunch of chopped mint. Trust me, it will disappear rapidly.

Or make a tapenade style olive dip to accompany pita triangles or pita chips.

Spanikopita is another relatively easy item to make (or buy @ Costco). Mix spinach, cheese, etc as a filling for phyllo strips folded into triangles. Like dis: LINK

Not into Greek food, so not too excited about this, but these are some good ideas. Thanks to all.

Do you have app, entree, sides? You never specified.

That pizza is pretty easy. Look up Rachel Rae's oven recipe.

No it is a pretty large group. The host is providing an entree and some dessert, so the rest of us can do whatever we want. Additional entree's or desserts or other stuff.

The spinach/fetta pizza does sound good. There is one vegan couple that might appreciate it. Not that I care that much because if I went to their house, it's not like they would make me a steak or otherwise cater to my dietary desires.

Makes me "hate" vegans.

Thanks Darla for the stew recipe.
