Among which class of other great beers do you place this one?

Sounds like you are just entering the realm of fall seasonal beer. Southern Tier Pumking is phenomenal and will likely blow Blue Moon's out of the water. I have not tried it, though.

I have tried both the Blue Moon pumpkin and the Southern Tier Pumking. The Blue Moon isn't great, but I could manage to drink a few without any rebuttal from the ole gag reflex. Can't say the same for Pumking. That horrid shite is vile and disgusting. I've got a couple bombers left I'm saving to pass off on my worst enemy.

Sure pal. I'll gladly hate you with every ounce of my being if you will come unclog my beer fridge of this foul liquid nutmeg.

The fake, overpowering graham cracker flavor ruins Pumking. Its nastiness is only rivaled by the horrible ST Creme Brulee.

Shipyard's pumpkin I can do though.

So, you don't like nutmeg. Got it.

yep. kind of like making my mind up about new Taco Bell products without having tasted them.

one can go by a brand's history to judge whether new offerings from said company are likely to be worth a shite or not.

I have not tried Blue Moon's pumpkin ale. i tried New Belgium's Pumpkick the other day. it is OK but i don't think i could drink more than one of those at a time. The aftertaste can be a little rough.

I tried blue moon's Short Straw Farmhouse Ale. I thought it was pretty good.
