Any recs as to where I can find fresh hot sausage in the BR area? I'm sick of using Hillshite Farms and Johnsonville

Patton's? Should be able to find them at one of the local grocery store.

Unsure on their fresh sausage but Bergeron's in Lobdell has good meat products.

I don't think I'd call frozen patties in a white bucket 'fresh'

I think many of the local grocery stores make fresh sausage. I usually pick some up when I see it on sale at Winn Dixie.

Yeah, I'm really looking for something that isn't just ground pork with red pepper flakes tossed in.

Good point. I just suggested it because even though it's not top notch, I'd still grab some ahead of Hillshire or Johnsonville.

Benoits in addis. Solid place for fresh sausage. I go there every time I make a gumbo or jambalaya for a bunch of people.

You might give City Pork a try. I'm pretty sure the Perkins location sell sausage by the pound. I'm not sure if it's smoked or fresh though.

The ones I get come in a "bucket". Its not frozen and in links.

They sell the patties in a plastic bucket too now. You have to read the lid on the plastic buckets to see if it's patties or links. The big paper buckets are always links.

BUT ... judging from the fact that the OP is using Hillshire and Johnsonville, I'm assuming they're looking for hot "Italian" sausage? ... Patton's is a completely different flavor profile from those ... it's not Italian, it's a Creole chaurice. Not many people make that.
