You a graduate of Baylor? If so, what year?

I'm gonna reverse this thread on you and ask you for your favorite places in Dallas. Any recommendations ( food, bar, or otherwise) are appreciated.

haven't dared try any of the etoufees.

Cajun Town

A barebones, order from the counter restaurant a stone's throw from the 4-4. It's been around as long as I can remember. I doubt you'll ever find yourself nearby, but if you do I'd recommend phoning in your lunch order because the line is long.

Isn't it crazy that a city of 4 million people that is ~2 hours from Cajun country doesn't have a good Cajun restaurant?
Hell, some restaurants in La can't cook good Cajun food.

There are a few decent place but nothing I'd say is mindblowing. I like BB's po-boys. The Cajun Stop is good too but I'd be more likely to go to BB's though.

Unless you want something that is like being in Baton Rouge or Lafayette, why not try somehthing that hasn't been listed in any post like Brennan's of Houston
It's just like being in NOLA

Down in the Clear Lake area is a little place called Abe's Cajun Deli. These folks are originally from LC, I think. Food is excellent. Love their Natchitoches meat pies and the corn bread is pretty good. Muffelato is spot on.

There is also Floyd's Cajun Seafood & Steaks on the Gulf Freeway near NASA Parkway.

2013 baw.

Pretty much any bars in uptown are good. That's where I frequent. BBC, Kung Fu, Knox St Pub and Katy Trail Icehouse. Happiest Hour by the AAC is also hot.

Food, i typically cook my own. I hit up the shell shack a lot. Only white person there most of the time though lol. I go to just a lot of typical chain steakhouses and what not if I do eat out. Nothing exciting unfortunately.

I married a girl who graduated from Baylor in 2014. My Great Uncle also taught in the med school there for 27 years, and all of his kids (my second cousins) are Baylor grads. Luckily LSU and Baylor hardly ever cross paths in sports, so it's easy for me to be a big fan of both.

Uptown is fun . I don't get out there often because I'm married and we usually go somewhere more chill unless its a special occasion.

I was just reading about the shell shack today. My wife has a shellfish allergy so I can't eat any of the good stuff at home. Might have to sneak off there next time I'm craving some seafood. Do they have boiled crawfish?

Do it

Yeah my girlfriend hates seafood so that's what I have to do. I believe the crawfish is on the menu seasonally.

Going to be in H-town for a few days this weekend and was wondering if there's a good cajun spot in town, I'm assuming there is.

I live in the DFW area so I don't get that way very often. Any suggestions would be helpful!

if you want boudin balls, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc..... Bonfire Wings is legit. Owned by a friend of mine who grew up in the Edgard , Vacherie area and is kin to Terry Robiske.

4 locations in Htown

Bayou City Seafood & Pasta on Richmond is the closest thing to good Cajun food. Seafood Courtbouillon, fried catfish and red beans (lunch only I believe) are both really good. Good seafood pastas as well. Stay away from the crawfish etouffee (too bland) and the Poboys.

There's a little place about two hours east of Houston called Louisiana. Try there.

Check out Crawfish and Noodles. It's a Vietnamese place that does boiled crawfish and other seafood very legit along with vietnamese fare.

Also, while it isn't cajun, you should absolutely go to Mala Sichuan. Best authentic Chinese food ive ever had. Get the spicy crispy chicken, the red oil dumplings and the dandan noodles.

This post is legit. Mala is the truth.

there is one in Sugarland as well. We went to it last weekend, it was pretty good. I just got fried shrimp, but they were tasty and pretty big.
