Curry goat dish is GOAT.
Beet salad is real good.
I think they have a good ceviche.
Several good pasta dishes.

Place is really good. My most recent visit was better then the first. Enjoy and report back.

I went a few weeks ago. Outstanding. Carrots almadine.

If they have black truffle specials, skip it as its not worth the up-charge. The truffles are tasteless as I think they must have come from a jar or can. They were wet and flavorless. The basic dishes they shave the truffles onto were superb- no reason to frick with it.

Steak tartar
Hamachi
Curry Goat

Get the special. Whatever the chef is featuring will be good regardless of your food preferences.

Eta: ^^^ with the exception of the truffles!

Agreed. Curried lamb is signature. Steak tartare and hamachi delicious. Also had a crawfish pasta, beet salad which were great. I heard the jalapeño shrimp is dope (cold dish)

Back to report on our experience Friday.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and did not find the restaurant to be too loud like I read in other reviews. Service was on point, with plenty of managers floating around. Drinks came out fast and were well done. (Big petpeave of mine is when restaurants don't staff enough bartenders.) Great place to go with friends for drinks and dinner. Reminded me of Peche's atmosphere but not quite as loud. Saw Nina in the kitchen doing her thing, but she didn't come out to the tables.

We started with the conch croquettes and the seafood pepper pot. Conch croquettes were just ok; a little too much breading.
The pepper pot was amazing. It got better with every bite and had great flavor. A few spices I was not familiar with that really brought together the dish.

For entrees we did the duo of beef, grouper and lobster pici pasta. Everything hit the spot. The beef melted in your mouth, the grouper was like butter and the pasta was made in house and had a saphron broth with it. Not too heavy.

Total bill with a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails came to $170 plus tip.

A few other things on the menu I want to go back and try. I definitely see Compere Lapin moving into the top 10 of New Orleans restaurants.

Nice review! Sounds like an excellent experience.

I do find it interesting that you avoided the curry goat dish after it was recommended by every poster here.
Do you not like goat?

I completely agree on the conch app, it's not very good. Way too much breading.

For some reason I was craving pasta that night and went with the lobster pici, but I tried to get the other two at the table to order the goat. It will be my entree next time, and I imagine a next time will be very soon.

Went Saturday after KdV and got nearly the same menu as jsquardjj.

Conch croquettes, dirty rice arancini, and seafood pepper pot to start. I liked the arancini and pepper pot the best of these.

Girlfriend got the duo of beef. I tried the sirloin and foie gras and they were very nicely done. I was torn between the curried goat and the pasta special. I went with the pasta and found it outstanding. Truffles were very flavorful.

We had their take on tres leches for dessert and really enjoyed it.

Great atmosphere and surprisingly uncrowded considering we went right after KdV. Good cocktail list and selection of ryes, which I value highly.
