Headed to NOLA for dinner at Balise. I've read some good things about it. Any FDB'ers been here yet?

The venison tartare, fish crudo are fantastic. Really anything from the garde manger station. Great baked rigatoni dish as well, although may be hot for that.

Good bar. If just going solo or a deux, sit at the bar and chat the bartender and garde manger cook. They'll steer you right.

Been because I heard rumors the burger was good. Average burger.

Blistered peppers were not too bad, but have had better. Fries were unremarkable.

Will definitely go back, but won't get the same thing.

Yellow-fin tuna tartar
seared scallops

get two of each and some cocktails.

the servers are wearing plaid, so don't.

It would be a disservice to this board if I didn't at least attempt to add to the "best burger in NOLA" list.

What a great place. Sat at the bar with the wife and had some really great dishes.

Seasonal melons
Beef tartar
blistered peppers
Lamb loin
the very best brussells sprouts I have ever had, bar none
the burger looked good
the fries were just perfect

Had a nice gin cocktail.
Bartenders made several recommendations and they have an eclectic cocktail menu and a good wine knowledge.

If you don't get cocktails there you are definitely doing it wrong. Such great cocktails.

You did the right thing. I'm interested in trying the burger myself. Could have been a one-off experience. I've ordered the LPG burger probably 10 times and one time it did suck. Other 9 were on-par as the GOAT Nola burger.

The lamb was awesome.
The tuna app wasn't what I expceted, but it was good.

Overall I was impressed, but the menu was very small, so don't bring a picky eater.
