I have no choice, I have to go electric. I love my coil range, but its unsightly. I also need a slide in. I've heard the glass tops are hard to keep clean and I do a lot of cooking. Any recommendations?

This stuff works great. Can be bought at Home Depot.

Induction is the way to go if it's in your price range. other than that stay far away from GE products.

I've had this one below for 8 years now and I've never had a problem.

Induction uses...drumroll...induction to heat the pot

Pot has to be magnetic material. It heats the pot directly and not the surface. I have one and it's great. Couldn't imagine going back to electric or even gas for that matter.

I sometimes still see a Yugo on the road too.

I work with them all the time. When a GE fails 9/10 times we are replacing it's entire computer control. Just saying.

they are night and day. I still like the really high BTU gas ranges (the commercial look ones) because I saute a lot, but induction is the way to go if you have to have an electric stove.

It heats much faster and 100 of the energy used is transmitted to the cooking surface, on normal electric ranges you only get like 40%, while 60% goes on to heat the air.

I have some POS Whirlpool in my apartment. I hate it. It's two temperatures are warm and surface of the sun. I've never hated an inanimate object more than this thing.

I'd like to think that you would have a few that already would work on it

If not you can get a decent set for pretty cheap believe it or not

I feel that Capital is the best overall oven/range as far as build quality and longevity.

In the middle ranges I like Whirlpool's products. I feel amana, WP and Maytag make good things.
It's hard to stay up with it though. I rarely see what's coming out new except at the yearly conventions and I generally can't form an opinion about a model until it's out of warranty and starts getting touched by technicians not sworn to secrecy.

Frigidaire/Electrolux seem to have the least issues, followed by the WP brands, of those Jenn-Aire has the most issues, but they also have high customer satisfaction.

If you go higher end, Dacor is really nice as is DCS.

Though my next remodel will be with a Capital stove and vent.

I just realized that you were NOT asking for cleaning products, and that's exactly what I gave you.

Love gas and will probably never go back to electric. I had a glass cooktop and suffered with the black stains that come with cooking on an enclean surface. Sometimes it's just unavoidable and will happen. We also used oven cleaner to try to clean the black spots off. It helped some.
