Anyone have a good whiskey sour recipe? I made a ginger infused simple syrup and want to make one like at lock and key but I don't know the recipe.

Thanks.

All sours have a basic formula. Whiskey sour, gin sour, daiquiri, margarita are all "sours" and use roughly same ratios. Use as a starting point, 2 oz booze (bourbon), 1 oz fresh citrus juice (lemon), 1/2 oz simple syrup (your ginger syrup), any desired additives (bitters, etc). Parentheses added for your particular drink. Shake w/ice, strain into glass filled w/fresh ice. (Please, no ginger ale! It is not part of a "sour"). Adjust recipe to your taste.

Sours are great old school cocktails. I love a cold gin sour over crushed ice on a hot summer afternoon. For those who say they dont like gin, they should try some of the old classic cocktails. The juniper flavor mixes into the other flavors and is not noticeable or prominent at all. It would also be great with your ginger syrup.

Thanks a ton btw.

I kept looking for recipes but they all suggested ginger ale or something else I would never even consider.

What other things would you add to a whiskey or gin sour? Might just stick to the basic three ingredients though. Lemon for whiskey and lime for gin...?

Lemon for either whiskey or gin. (In this drink lemon is better w/gin). Lime for rum=daiquiri, etc.
As for additions, if you use your syrup I would not do additions. Regan's orange bitters sparingly is ok.
Personally, I think you should just stick to basic gin/whiskey sour. Three ingredients. (Hint: save the lemons that you squeeze for the juice. Add them to the shaker for the prep. Makes it way better.)

Make your own sour and ginger lime mix. Scale down or up as needed.

Profit.

Ginger Lime Syrup
makes approximately 3 1/2 cups
2 cups Water
1 1/4 cup Sugar, granulated
3/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
3 oz. fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
1 tsp. Coriander seed, lightly cracked
3 Limes
1/8 tsp. Salt

Combine water, sugars, ginger and coriander in a sauce pot, bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, covered. Remove from heat and allow to steep 10 minutes more. Meanwhile zest and juice the limes. Add the zest and salt to the ginger mixture and steep 5 minutes longer. Strain and cool. Once room temperature add the lime juice and refrigerate until ready to use. Will hold for 2 weeks.

Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix
2 cups Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 1/2 cups Simple syrup (1:1 water to sugar ratio)
1/2 cup Water
1/3 cup Lime juice, freshly squeezed
1/3 cup Orange juice, freshly squeezed

Combine all ingredients and strain to remove any pulp and/or seeds. Refrigerate until needed. Will last for about 1 week, but tastes best within a day of making.

Gingered Bourbon Sour
makes 1 drink
2 oz. Bourbon, your favorite brand (whiskey would be fine also)
2 oz. Ginger Lime Syrup, recipe below
3 oz. Homemade Sour Mix
Club Soda
Lime, or Lemon slices

Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice. Pour in the Bourbon, ginger syrup and sour mix. Give a quick stir then fill with club soda and garnish with lemon or lime slices. After finishing the first one, enjoy another, and maybe another…only if you aren’t planning on driving anywhere!!

Upped the 2nd one to 2 oz. bourbon, 1oz. SS and 1 oz. lemon juice to see how that would go.

Little too sweet.

Kosmo:
I bet that is good. The addition of the fizz makes it a Collins however. OP asked for a sour.
