The latest batch of Ghost almost seems like it may have been retooled to compete at GABF. Has Andrew ever entered Parish beers there?

Or do y'all think that the change was inadvertent? Just seems curious that it evolved like that at the same time Bloom came out tasting an awful lot like the old Ghost.

It seemed as if it was always tinkered with, but since the Opus Vert release it has been way off of the mark, to the point where I personally haven't even been buying it. I am speaking in terms of the last 3-4 batches, I suppose.

Could resources, r&d, cream of the crop, etc. be being used for OV, Bloom, DDH Envie etc. now?

I have no clue. I'm not a brewer nor do I claim to understand all the in's and out's of brewing. My Mr. Beer kit did treat me well once though.

He told 4Miles before the GRD event started that the change has been inadvertent. Same recipe, etc. but the beer turns out different. Others have said that the yeast he had been using for Ghost has changed. I don't know.

Very interesting that you picked up on that. Someone told me the other day he keeps changing it because it's never won an award.

Do the judges at GABF tend to prefer clarified IPAs as opposed to the cloudy ones?

Well NOLA won a silver.

Whatever that means.

I think it means NOLA > Parish. Also, Abita has won awards as well.

I had a draft pour of Ghost from Overpass a week or so ago and didn't enjoy it nearly as much as previous batches. I just wrote it off as just a subjective preference of my taste buds that day, but it certainly could speak to a difference in the batch.

FIFY.

I sent some of the latest batch to an unbiased beer drinker in California with no point of reference or expectations for the flavor profile. He really liked it and said it reminded him of Pliny.

ETA: I really like it, too, and I think that maybe people are expecting one thing and getting another and thats throwing off their objectivity. I just thought that maybe it's exactly what Andrew wants it to be, and he wants his flagship DIPA to compete at GABF.

I have no problem going out and trying to win some medals, hell go for it but people are shelling out good money for a beer and they have an expectation of it .If you are going to change it let us know thats the case.

He could easily post up something on their facebook or tweeter
"this batch or ghost is a complete juice bomb, come and get it" or "we just out Pliny - Pliny"

Just let me know what i'm buying or leave it alone

Just do what they do on Untapped Ghost Batch #

Then maybe people aren't expecting that batch 4 juiciness everyone loved.

I had it for the first time this past week. My first few sips were a boozyness, almost alcohol burn. I let it sit for awhile while watching the LSU game and after awhile it tasted really nice. As others have said it may be one that is beat to drink later than fresh.

Last year this beer was a shoe-in as a medalist in the Mad Dogg Awards, and I've been fortunate enough to try many of the top-rated hoppy brews in the world (many because of my access to GitM). Not even close today. It might not get a medal in Mad Dogg's Best of Parish Awards.

If it's over 21 days old I marsh stomp it.

Are we going to see the Bloom and the double hopped Envie on the shelves or no?
