What's the gas station beer scene in your area? In Charlotte, most have a few IPA's available as six packs (usually goose island due to the bud distribution, and one or two others like SN or Lagunitas). The best deal I've found is two 16 oz tall boys of Redhook IPA (drinks more like a pale ale) for 3 bucks.

While stopping in Asheville a few months ago, I was floored by the variety of craft beers available at the random convenience store we stopped at.

Was curious about the nation wide trends.

I'm getting Modelo Especial if the station has it. Corona or Blue Moon if not. I'm usually desperate or already drunk if I am stopping into a gas station for beer though.

In BR its not very good. At the Shell station by my house, I usually get Sierra Nevada Pale, Corona, or High Life. maybe PBR

Dunno about here in TX. I live within walking distance to a Specs so I never bother looking anywhere else.

That's nice. I'm assuming you arrive in a cab at the gas station?

Tons of good stuff. The Texaco down the street from me has a "Beer Cave" walk in cooler full of local stuff like Community, Deep Ellum, Lakewood and Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada, Full Sail, Firestone Walker, Oskar Blues.....the whole wall on the left is craft beer. The wall on the right is BMC. The Texaco used to be owned by a middle eastern man (Lebanese I think) with 2 hot daughters who worked there all the time. So it was a double bonus to go buy beer there....always cops there flirting with the daughters though.

My go to beer store is a gas station. Fella that owns it loves him some craft brew and gets some great stuff. Even has 12 beers on tap.

If I have to hit the Circle K by my house, I grab Sierra Nevada or Sweetwater IPA when they have it.

If I'm running there before hitting my pool (god I miss summertime), I'll do Corona.

There are 3 gas stations and a bar in walking distance to my apartment, closest being the bar and one of the gas stations, so I walk all the time Made that trek with friends many a'night when we run out of beer or smokes or both.

Create your own 6'er....
Grab some Abita, Fat Tire, Envie, Cane Break, Indian Summer, Timberbeast, Sweet Water, and maybe founders

I rarely buy beer at gas stations. I like to plan ahead.

I have stopped at random convenience stores in austin and they always have all sorts of craft beer stocked. This past Christmas night I stopped at sketchy looking no name store in deep south austin and was just hoping for shiner. I walked out with Real Ale Lost Gold IPA. Of course, the King Daddy Convinced store in Austin is Whip In. Its not really a convenience store anymore but even 5 years ago you could buy tooth paste, motor oil, milk, lunchmeat and bread as well as have a beer from one of the 15 taps. Now it has morphed into a total craft beer and wine bar/ indian food restauranteur/ live music venue.

I'm lucky if the gas station across the street has fat tire.

You're do better going to a grocery store/package store unless you want to pay more...

90% of them suck around Shreveport, but a few will have a local beer section with Abita, Great Raft, Tin Roof, NOLA, etc

those will typically also have the likes of Fat Tire and whatnot

We stopped at some random gas station in the middle of nowhere Washington and it had a better/bigger craft beer selection than any beer store in the state of LA. It was incredible. They had 3 aisles devoted to just craft beer. In a gas station.

As you can see, the 4-Way Market claims to have the "largest selection of craft beer in Nashville." I've been told that they don't, but you can certainly find a lot of stuff like Oskar Blues, Left Hand, Good People, New Holland, Founders, Terrapin, Victory, Stoudts, (the Tennessee breweries), etc...

I have Woodland Wine Merchant right by me, so I have yet to try this gas station out.

Stop at joes at 24th and main in the heights has a good selection and the prices seem to be in line with what I would pay at HEB. They even have bombers.
