I will be stuck in Galveston this weekend with the family. Any suggestions on restaurants and entertainment with a 3 & 5 year old?

Palm Beach. It's a water area of Moody gardens that is more focused towards kids your age. Much cheaper and less crowded (and gross) than schitterbahn next door. I'm almost positive they are still open.

Then you can walk them next door to the aquarium and indoor rainforest. It's a good time for kids that age. Mine are 4 and 7 now and we have had passes for 2 years.

Food is a bit tougher with the little ones.

Cafe Michael Burger is on the west side with Moody Gardens. I'd recommend it.

Olympia grill is good greek food and ok for the kids.

Bennos is cajun food on the seawall. It has good food and an enclosed patio for the kids to play on.

Rudy & Paco's is my favorite restaurant on the island, but not great for the kids at dinner. You could get away with it for lunch, but it's not a great place to eat with kids.

Millers cafe (on the seawall) is also a place I would recommend. It was always a favorite when I lived there. Great for the kids.

Best consistently good meals I've had in Galveston were Farley Girls for brunch/lunch and Mosquito Cafe for lunch. They aren't tourist-y "kiddie" places if you're looking more that style, but your kids certainly wouldn't be out of place there. They aren't high end. Both are counter service.

Both get a line at lunchtime too.

I've always like Mario's pizza. They used to have some old school video games (like pac man) for the kids and a pizza buffet for lunch. No idea what they do now. There used to be a mini-golf place down there that wasn't bad and we would eat snowcones before/after

I went to Galveston every summer all summer in my youth. It hasn't changed at all in 25 years

Thanks

We take the kids out to eat very often so they have been in pretty much every environment. We are really just looking for a casual place with good food, not too high end, but something with table service, etc. We are staying at Hotel Galvez if that helps. I was 6 the last time I was in Galveston so Im not familiar with anything there. We have a wedding Friday night and are just going to make a weekend out of it.

Someone suggested Fishermans Wharf but that looked like it could be a tourist trap.

Marios can do all of that.

gaido's is a bit higher end, but I think we got away with like jeans and tshirts as kids and jeans and polos as adults (Galveston dressy)

I've heard the burger place is pretty good as well, Michaels, as mentioned above

I mean you could always just go to the beach with the kids...that is kind of the point right?

Farley Girls

I, literally, live just up the interstate and had never heard of this place until I saw you mention it. It's starting to get alot more love and publicity locally now. I need to go check it out.

For kids that age, def do rainforest cafe. Very novel, they will love it. Take the boat ride.

Moody gardens has lots of things for kiddos to do.....aquarium, palm beach, check out their website. It's not as bad as some asshats on here will tell you. Just enjoy the time with your family, the kids will love it.

It is my favorite place on the island. I love it.

ETA: Skybar for sushi is really good too. Their HH kicks arse.
