Don't hold back: where to get fried chicken livers, anywhere in SE LA (roughly defined as Morgan City to Venice to NOLA to Port Allen, with special focus on NOLA). Help me get my liver fix.

It's coming back? I was in tears when it was removed.

It's usually a pre-game meal for me.

Cochon serves them when rabbit liver is unavailable which seems like most of the time..

With that said, i don't eat them as they're nothing more than catfish bait..

Tried working with chicken livers once at home. I had no clue about the texture. I was expecting something...firm. Jelly held together by cartilage...yuck.

What did you do?

I just put them in flour and throw them in the cast iron.

--Mahoney's fried chicken liver poboy dressed w/coleslaw
--Popeyes at the corner of West Esplanade & Williams, in Kenner
--Popeyes on Loyola near I-10, also in Kenner

It can be hard to find a Popeyes w/livers. Most don't have 'em. I am shamed to admit I've never eaten Brothers fried chicken...is the coating super-salty/full of MSG (like McHardy's?)

Not by a long, long, long shot. Chicken Sue's, Lil Dizzy's...hell, even the Robert's supermarket hot lunch line fried chicken is better than McHardy's. Chicken in a Box (McKenzies) in Gentilly, too.

Times Pic has a poll up right now on the very subject: LINK

I voted McHardy's earlier this morning. Glad it's doing work. White folk don't know much about it.
