I saw an epi where they went to a restaurant in the midwest that served fresh fried carp. The host and all the occupants said it was good, although it sounds to me. Anybody ever had fried carp?

I can't imagine that would be too appetizing but I've seen that one and apparently they love it. Good. It gets rid of them. Saw Andrew Zimmern eat mullet roe in Gulf Shores. That's another nasty fish.

Who's the bow hunter?

Joe's place has been around since dirt..or at least longer then me because I remember it as a kid living in that area.

Personally I'd pass on the carp and get the fried gizzards. Hard to find a sit down joint these days that serves fried gizzards.

Oh I'm with you on the gizzards. A few local stores here do them and I seek them out. I do them at home too.

A favorite of mine my country grandmother did, smother gizzards in a gravy until tender and serve over rice.

If you're ever in Toomsuba, MS the truck stop has good gizzards. Well worth pulling of the interstate to enjoy a mess of gizzards.

I saw that one too. It's in Nebraska, I think.

I like how they have to slice the carp before they fry it in order to break up the bones so that the bones dissolve when they hit the oil.

And they call Southerners rednecks. Disgusting.

Don't know about fried, but smoked carp is excellent.

Nope, but I do need to stop in there and pick up a few presents for myself. And maybe others.

I picked up another bottle of that A Quo yesterday and a $10 rioja that I drank last night and was pretty decent for the price. You should check out the tasting they have on Thursdays. Usually have some nice things to sample.

Carp is I am pretty sure Oriental in origin. The tea gardens of Japan and China generally have fish ponds, goldfish is what a carp is in truth.

Mission Street Cafe in the Exxon station at Hwy 73 and I-10 has some good fried innards. Get me some every time I go to the coast to go fishing.
