A couple of days ago I purchased a pint of shucked raw oysters from Rouses. They've been very chilled ever since, so that's not the issue as I know they're still good. I did notice the date on top is Sept 5, which seems a far away...a week from Monday to be exact. I had no idea shucked oysters could last that long.

Thoughts?

I'd sous vide them from now until Sept. 5th, then wrap them in bacon and toss them on the grill.

Never been a fan of bacon and oysters. Bacon overpowers it.

I agree just throw them on a cracker and some sauce.....and chase them with a cold beer of your choice.....

Don't eat them a day before 9/1 if you want to live.

I was having a beer with some mates a week or so back. He boasted that he only eats oysters in months that have an R in them. We laughed because it was only a week away. Suddenly oysters turn good again.

I wouldn't eat them raw from a container now. I would find shells or use a muffin pan and grill/bake them.

Shucked Oysters should be good for 10-14 days from shucked date.

Restaurant Depot's policy on shucked oysters was 7 days from shucked date. That was for sales to restaurants though.

Eating them raw is up to you. My suggestion is for cooking. Obviously oysters are better eaten raw out of the shell.

Jason has spoken. Thank you.

I certainly wouldn't have expected oysters to last that long, and yes, I will be frying them Japanese style. Coat in corn starch, dip in beaten egg, then pressed in panko and deep fried.
