Tomorrow is my one year anniversary. And my wife and I will be going to New Orleans for the day. Was hoping for some good suggestions on places to eat for dinner. Thanks in advance. Like to go somewhere nice but where I don't have to wear a jacket.

Wear a damn jacket, even a vest and tie if appropriate and made to go together. Galatoires if in the quarter is an absolute must do location. The Grill Room at the Windsor Court if going for the bigger picture of romance, capeche?

PS tell the maître'd about the anniversary part when you enter the place.

On a Sunday night, Mr B's would work. Arnaud's is an option. Lots of folks like Sylvain. I'm not sure if its open on Sunday nights.

For all, call for a reservation right away.

You could take a look at the dining guide on GEAUX.com.

I respect it. I should just man up and wear a jacket. I agree. Just don't have on that fits right now. The ones I have are too big.

The new Brennan's place Tableau is really beautiful and you can definitely go in just a button down and jeans. If you can sit upstairs on the balcony you have a view of Jackson Square and the cathedral that is second to none. The menu is not overly ambitious, but it is extremely NOLA-traditional and IMO they execute it to perfection. I got some escargot and trout meuniere and thought the fish was cooked perfectly. It's not cheap, but it's not Stella prices either. The place right next door Sylvain is nice, but make sure you make reservations. They do some marketing where they will make you wait if you just walk up, even if the restaurant is half empty.

Irene's and Bayona are 2 of our favorites. Don't forget about GW Fins either. I'm not sure what is open Sunday night though.

Make a mall run now and grab a sports coat that works. The wife will remember this event tomorrow for a very long time if you do the "until death" part and every thing that was in the laundry list of the litany.

NOLA on St Louis is nice but casual.

Bayona, Sylvain

Or leave the Quarter and go to Coquette.

Going to Coquette tonight.

Can people stop recommending Brennan's restaurants in the Quarter? They aren't good.

ETA OP, Iris is where you want to go. Jacket not necessary, bad arse food, great cocktails and wine, on point service. And you'll spend about what you would elsewhere in Quarter just with a better overall outcome. Its where Matt Flynn dined two nights before 2007/2008 NC game. And that life choice has worked out well for him.

To be fair, Flynn was eating at the original Iris location.

It's funny because it's true. GW Fins, Italian Barrel, Meauxbar, Sylvain are a few I would recommend.
