Tries to get a reservation at Doris Metropolitan but they only had early times due to Jazz Fest.

What other places would the FD board recommend? We are open to almost any cuisine and would like to try something new.

edit: second August and Revolution, especially if you want a grander experience.

Revolution is great, but last visit I was a little let down with the food. It was good...not great. Maybe just ordered the wrong dishes but wasn't blown away.

NOLA if you are a bit casual. Fine food and service.

Speaking of anniversary dinners, is one month out too late to get a reservation at Commander's Palace? If I can't get Sunday brunch, would Saturday lunch be easier? Maybe I should start a thread.

Recently, we got a 7 pm Saturday reservation on a month's notice. Call the restaurant directly and good luck.

We went last year for our anniversary on a Saturday night and I can promise my husband didn't call more than a week ahead of time to make the reservation.

They do online reservations too, but if the date/time you want is not available online, I would definitely call.

Meauxbar. You'll probably be getting one of Chef Essig's final services there.

Our options were severely limited due to Jazz Fest but we ended up going with Dickie Brenann's Steakhouse. I was all in for Angeline but the wife wants a steak.

Give them a call. Shouldn't be a big festival weekend then, like now, so I would think you'd be fine. Also, Commander's does brunch on Saturday and Sunday, so if brunch is what you wanted, you'll get the full Jazz brunch on either day.

Find a place that has a chef's table, it's an awesome experience that you will both always remember

Which would be a better combo, Commander's Palace for a Saturday dinner and Restaurant R'evolution for Sunday lunch/brunch or vice versa?

I've had brunch and dinner at both. Brunch at CP is more festive than R'evolution, though there was a Jazz combo at R'ev and it was nice to go out and walk the FQ over to Jackson Square after brunch, as far as that goes.

Dinner at R'ev was more laid back than CP and more romantic in way. If you do R'ev at night, ask for table overlooking the hotel courtyard. It's a more private area of the restaurant.

I'd probably do CP at night and R'ev for brunch, but either way you should have a lovely time.

Tell both it's your anniversary when you make the reservations.
