Is this a new bar they are opening up behind the Kroger Marketplace on Ellerbe and Flournoy Lucas?

If it is, they are going to have to come harder than that.

It's a BBQ joint
The back right of the building is the smokehouse. Very cool and rustic inside. Looking forward to it.

That will be nice. We need a good local BBQ place in the area.

I saw the new sign for the first time today, and I was wondering the same thing. Was hoping it was food/drink related!

Shreveport is so Texas it hurts.

Know when it is set to open?

Sweet post bro.
What does that even mean, btw?

From what I've heard this fall. I haven't gone and seen him in about 6 weeks though

Any update on this place, Ross? It looks close to being complete from the outside.

I'll go by and see them today and report back!

That is going to be Greiders place (Hill Country, Corner Collection on Line). Also Silver Star is supposed to build something in the Kroger marketplace there so two BBQ places in close proximity should be interesting.

Nice I live right around these two new bbq places and I'm really pumped about them. Hopefully they are good

I am in the same boat. There is a ton of potential with this location of Kroger, Forbing and Silver Star. I would like Forbing Ice House to be more of a bar than restaurant like a traditional "TX-style ice house". Would love a good place to get a beer and watch football that is close to the house. Pieworks and Wind Rush are good but I wouldn't mind a better bar atmosphere.

It'll be nice not to have to go to youree or the other side of town to have some options to eat for a change. Looks like we have a few posters that live right near Forbing Ice House. We should all go opening day and wear a fedora and tip it to each other when we pass. Just kidding, kind of.

Couldn't agree more with this.

The Times has an article about it. Opening soon. LINK
quote:
Grieder does not a have formal grand opening planned, but he is ready for business as soon as a couple of minor permit and licensing issues are cleared up, which he says should be in a couple weeks.
quote:
Inside he has a full service kitchen with fryers, a grill, and gas broiler, and out back he has a big custom-made smoker set up for slow-cooking and a huge stockpile of pecan wood, (Not mesquite, mesquite is a little too harsh.) along with a rotisserie and black iron skillets for brisket. That way they can offer barbecue and also daily specials from the kitchen. The menu will include an assortment of barbecue beef, pork, brisket, as well as salads.

Yeah, Shreveport isn't Texas.

So next time you are at the Forbing cross-road, motor on in, grab a cold one and a bite to eat, and settle down to enjoy a proud tribute to Shreveport’s blended heritage.
