New Pizzeria in Gouter Location

quote:

“Rocca Pizzeria was created out of our desire to introduce an authentic Naples-style pizzeria in Baton Rouge where the experience revolves around high quality ingredients cooked in a wood-fired oven,” Fernandez says in a statement. The pizzeria will pay homage to the old-world Italian tradition of Neapolitan-style pizza, but with a “Neo twist,” the owners say. A Forza Forni wood-fired oven is being imported from Italy, and the ingredients will include traditional “00” flour with combinations of artisan cheeses, imported and house-cured meats, sauces and vegetables.

Excited, but fast forward two months after opening and the only thing BR residents will be talking about is how expensive it is.

Hope they have a good beer selection and some cool apps

I think he did a good job with Lit. They have like 4 taps and managed to do a good beer selection. I'd imagine they get it right. But you are likely correct. "$12 for a pizza! I an go to Dominos and get 2 pizzas for that price."

We had real pizza -- Mama Della's -- but these idiots who know nothing about real pizza tried to tell the guy how to do his job.

Well at least something is going in there. The first guy spent all the money on the renovations so these guys should be able to start selling and making quick.

While I loved Mama Della's for what it was, what it wasn't was Neapolitan style pizza.

If Rocca can serve up a legit Neapolitan margherita for about $12, I'll be there at least once a week.
